In this moment
of national crisis NRSP and ILO forged forces to bring
hope for respectable and sustainable livelihoods for the
affected communities of Muzaffarabad in AJK.
With its long
standing experience in capacity building, Institute of
Rural Management (IRM) of NRSP assumed the task of
conducting vocational training for skill enhancement.
IRM is also operating a Vocational, Technical and
Educational Center (VTEC) at Rawalpindi for the last
three years which is acknowledged for its quality of
training and is registered with Government of Pakistan’s
Technical Educational Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA)
and Government of Punjab’s Skill Development Council (SDC).
Under this
project agreement with ILO, NRSP-IRM’s Vocational and
Technical Education Center (VTEC) would impart
employable skills through technical and managerial skill
training to the people of the earthquake hit areas.
Initially, training were offered in trades that
facilitate rebuilding efforts such as Carpenter, Mason,
Electrician, Welding, Plumbing, subsequently women
specific trades are also introduced. This training
facility is working in close collaboration with the
Social Welfare Department of AJK and in other trades
resource persons will be drawn from National Training
Bureau of the Ministry of Labour, Government of
Pakistan. |

PAPIER
MACHIE: |
|
Papier machie is a Traditional Kashmiri Art. One can get
handsome earning after getting training of one month. The
material is provided by institute. It is especially suitable
for women who want to generate their income at domestic
level. This training enriches the women to earn handsome
amount. |

TAILORING &DRESS DESIGNING: |
|
In one month women can learn about stitching and dress
designing. Measuring ladies and gents suits, cutting ladies
and gents suits are the part of this course. In one month
students are being able to make different type of stylish
suits and frocks. After getting training women can stitch
their own suit or take this trade as a vocation. |

ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICIAN FOR WOMEN: |
|
First time this innovative idea introduced by IRM.this
course is suitable for women who want to do their own work
on domestic level. This course reduced the dependency of
women. In this training woman learns about electric
appliances and she can learn how to do wiring of two rooms.
Twenty seven women of local community have been trained so
far. |

BUILDING ELECTRICIAN: |
|
Building electrician a most popular trade in the earth quake
affected area. Most of the people show their interest in
this trade. It is a two month course. After availing this
training students are able to do every type of open and
concealed wiring. |

CARPENTER: |
|
In this trade students polish their skills in wooden work
and get trained about the recognition of tools, woods. In
one month, student can be able to make lintel of door and
window (as per Neapolitan team & ERRA instruction) with
complete theory and practical. How to make a door and window
is part of this course. The demand of this course is
increasing day by day. |

HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES: |
In this training students learn how to repair electric home
appliances effectively. After this training one can easily
get earning job at market level. |

MASON: |
In this course students get training about basic
construction. Techniques of sub-construction, making a wall,
making ratio of cement to sand for cemented roof, as per
instruction of ERRA and Neapolitan expert. This course not
only increases the earning of local community but also
beneficial in the constructing phase. |

PLUMBING & PIPE FITTING: |
Plumbing is also very important in earthquake affected
areas. Students get training in one month. The main contents
of the course are cutting and fitting of pipes, bathroom
fitting, working according to the drawing and sketches.
After training, participants can earn their livelihood
easily. The wage rates are also, comparatively high than
other trades. |
