NRSP-Institute of Rural Management (IRM) and Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN) launched Women’s Leadership Programme WLP to address the gender disparity among women professionals particularly from the Rural Support Programmes. The programme focuses on managerial skills and provides development opportunities to women professionals.
|
Objectives
Women’s Leadership Programme aims:
- To develop a cadre of accomplished women professionals;
- To provide them with the necessary skills, knowledge and confidence;
- To enhance their performance;
- To move them next higher level in the organizational nexus and eventually tread the managerial echelon.

About the Programme
The programme has been designed by a group of diverse women professionals consisting of staff from different RSPs, NGOs and government officials. Keeping in mind the diversity of the group special brainstorming sessions were held to a comprehensive Training Needs Assessment (TNA). Now a more holistic and practical training course is being run, its methodology, selection criteria and the course contents are customized by incorporating the feedback and identified needs.
The Programme was first announced in January 2007 and there was an overwhelming response to the call for applications to a place in the inaugural Women’s Leadership Program which is a clear indication that there is a need and an appetite for this area of professional development. Since then, WLP has successfully completed three Cohorts training 53 participants.
Participants make an effective training audience. The ideal group is between 20 –25. This gives a good balance within group and an overall number, which is manageable for the trainer. It also helps in more interaction. |
