Roomi S. Hayat is a renowned trainer and facilitator known, both
nationally and internationally, for his innovativeness in course
design and organization.
As Director of the NRSP- Institute of Rural Management, Mr. Hayat
has designed and conducted over two hundred national and international
training events. As team leader-IRM, he leads a team of highly
motivated and dedicated professionals based at the head office
and NRSP regions and works through teamwork and participatory decision-making.
Being a senior team member of NRSP, he is directly involved with
developing short/ long term plans, developing innovative programmes,
guidance to staff for career planning and development and recruitment
an formulating training policy.
He has also served as Human Resource Development (HRD) Specialist
with the Rural Support Programme Network, thereby assessing and
guiding the HRD related initiatives of other Rural Support Programmes.
He is also the chairperson of the Human Resource Development Network
(HRDN) - a platform for government and non government agencies
for pooling of their resource, empowering individuals and experience
sharing.
Mr.
Hayat was also part of the United Nations international missions
to develop a Master Plan
for Youth in
Cambodia. He was a member
of the Training Formulation Mission of UNDP multi-national team
for World Bank "National Drainage Programme". He was
also the Team Leader of a multi-RSP team that conducted the TNA
of Rural Support Programmes. He is also an active trainer for UN
Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UN ESCAP).
He has developed a training module for Post Literacy Programmes
in India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan. He also conducted a study
on Developmental Activities of NGOs in Pakistan (sponsored by Japan
Bank for International Cooperation).
He
has also conducted a study of Punjab Small Industries Corporation
and Govt. of Netherland’s
Center for Agricultural Machinery Industries. The study aimed
at developing a plan for setting up
a training programme for vocational and managerial training, including
training modules.
Mr. Hayat has authored a "Training of Trainers" module
for United Nations ESCAP training course on "HRD for Poverty
Alleviation" and conducted workshop for UN staff in Thailand.
He also designed and supervised province wide (NWFP) Technology
and Training Needs Assessment Survey (TTNA) in the capacity of
Manager- Training and Research Department, Small Industries Development
Board, Govt. of NWFP, Pakistan.
Mr. Hayat obtained his Master's degree in Engineering in 1989
from NJIT, USA. He is a fellow of LEAD Inc., an international NGO
working for environment and development.
