Ms Khan graduated from the University of Delhi, India in Political Science and did her masters in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Cambridge, UK.Shandana Khan has a Masters from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in International Public Policy, at Washington DC. 2004.

Ms Khan has headed the Social Sectors and Gender sections at AKRSP, SRSP and NRSP and implemented similar programmes at PRSP. She also headed the Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Research section at SRSP. Among other projects, she has done consulting work on Sustainable Livelihoods in the Maldives and Community based education projects in Nepal and Pakistan. She is currently a member of the Advisory Board to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development of the Pakistan Government.
